Get up early, pop in your earbuds, crank your favorite dance music and start moving. The endorphins released will stimulate you in wonderful ways, and boost your energy levels, too. Moms who effectively manage their time to include a frisky workout first thing in the morning tend to be healthier, happier, and more energetic than mothers who take a nap on the couch every chance they get. Informal workouts are a fine use of time
Making time to get to the gym can be more than a trifling challenge. But this is no reason why Mommy can’t get and stay fit. Even when you’re not participating in a choreographed workout, you can add energy to your life by moving more every day.
Time to be yourself
Of course, “me time” doesn’t have to be all about exercise. It’s crucial that new moms remain engaged in at least some of the activities they found pleasing prior to motherhood. Streamline your household chores and use the extra time to practice an instrument, paint a picture, or meditate with the cosmos. It’s not selfish for mommy to do things that are for her own benefit, advises Psych Central. It’s imperative for her mental and emotional health. This, in turn, may make for a happier family in so many ways. It’s good for kids to understand that the woman who feeds them, loves them, picks them up at school, and tucks them into bed at night is a well-rounded, creative individual with interests and talents of her own.
Structure your evenings in a way that gives you and your spouse some “me time” together. Once the kids have done their homework, share a nice dinner and discuss your day. Once the kids are fed, bathed, and in bed, enjoy hanging out with your honey and remember why you started a family together. An hour or two of time with your most special sweetheart will rejuvenate you, relax you, and help you face the next day of extreme mothering.
Don’t make time. Find it
Small blocks of time can be found almost anywhere. Put them to good use. When you’re stuck in traffic, write a shopping list in your mind, or on your phone. Sitting in a waiting room? Use the time to catch up on email. When you call for customer service and are put on hold, give yourself a quick manicure. There are all sorts of little spaces between the big stuff. Manage these, and you may find that you have a lot more hours to have fun with and without your kids in tow.
If you can’t manage one thirty-minute “me time” session today, do three ten-minute sessions instead. Do it every day, and you’re bound to reap the benefits of increased vigor, a clearer mind, and far less stress in your world.
