It’s the holiday season.
That magical time of year.
Cookies are baking, decorations are up and the random thoughts are flowing.

themadmommy.com

It’s time for Random Thoughts from the Mad Mommy: The Holiday Edition!

1. My son keeps asking for his own computer. He knows Santa only fills his stocking. He keeps saying, “Santa needs to think outside the stocking!”.  He get an A for creativity, but he’s still not getting a computer.

2. My daughter wants this baby that poops magic charms. You then put said charms on a bracelet and wear them. How did this toy make it on the shelves? Did they skip the mom focus group?

3. Tonight, my son asked my daughter, “If there were 22 days last night, how many are there tonight?”. My 3 year old replied, “Too many!”. She’s brilliant, I tell you, brilliant.

4. My brother is arguing about us wanting to change things up and only buy for the kids this year. There are 12 kids to buy for. Yes, I said 12 and 6 of those kids are his. Ain’t nobody got money for no more presents!

5. Viva La #ElfFreeHome Revolution! There still ain’t no elf on my shelf!

6. I have hosted Christmas every year for the past 5 years. I have never received a hostess gift. (Starbucks and Taco Bell gift cards are welcomed. I’m just sayin’)

7. I still have not heard a Christmas song this year. I just realized this.

You’re Welcome.

8. I seriously think it is adorable that my son is missing his two front teeth before Christmas. I do not think watching him eat with said missing teeth is adorable.

9. Christmas Day is the only day of the year where I wake up at the butt-crack of dawn and seriously think about waking up my kids. I may be more excited on Christmas morning than they are.

10. I think I finally understand why there was always Bailey’s and Peppermint Schnapps in the cupboard on Christmas. Mommy needs her “special” coffee.

Your 3 year old’s response to how many days there is left until Christmas is PERFECTION! That’s crazy you’ve never gotten a a hostess gift. We always give little gift cards or homemade treats. Here’s hoping that this year you’ll be one <3

Your family sounds like so much fun! I am really interested in this toy that poops out charms now LOL!!!! I read a great article from a mommy blogger who said “yes” to her kids for a day. That is an awesome idea, but my kids would want a kitten surfing on a slice of pizza into outer space… seriously. LOL!!! Happy ALL of the Holidays! ^_^

Your brother sounds a lot like Kevin’s side of the family, where my kids are 2 out of 9 grandkids. We thought it was time to change things up as that is a lot of kids to by for who aren’t ours too and plus it is getting to the point where no one puts much thought into the gifts, because of the sheer amount of kids to by for, but when this was brought up of course no one saw it the same way. Got to love the holidays and families!

Does food count as a hostess gift? Money is tight, but I always try to bake a treat, or make my bacon artichoke dip, or even a small crafty homemade thing that says “I thought of you.” It’s just the right thing to do. Or offer to stay after and clean up. SOMETHING. Geez.

My sister said the same thing about only getting the kids presents. We have 9 of us total – adult “kids” and spouses. Then there are my parents. And four grandkids. I think the math is wrong. Only four real kids. 13 adults! I still want presents! Wah!

Baby Boy only haw 3 immediate cousins, but we wanted to do only something for the kids. I have 3 siblings, plus parents and a grandmother. Hun only counts his mother and grandmother. That’s quite a lot of gifts.

I think at least 1 sister is getting Hun and I something. Our budget is tipi right right now, so I’m thinking of a food mix for people, hot cocoa anyone. Just quick and simple, plus not too costly. Then likely pictures for the grandparents.

My pressure to keep up with my sister I’ll eliminate by staying true to what works for me. 🙂
