It’s the holiday season.
That magical time of year.
Cookies are baking, decorations are up and the random thoughts are flowing.
It’s time for Random Thoughts from the Mad Mommy: The Holiday Edition!
1. My son keeps asking for his own computer. He knows Santa only fills his stocking. He keeps saying, “Santa needs to think outside the stocking!”. He get an A for creativity, but he’s still not getting a computer.
2. My daughter wants this baby that poops magic charms. You then put said charms on a bracelet and wear them. How did this toy make it on the shelves? Did they skip the mom focus group?
3. Tonight, my son asked my daughter, “If there were 22 days last night, how many are there tonight?”. My 3 year old replied, “Too many!”. She’s brilliant, I tell you, brilliant.
4. My brother is arguing about us wanting to change things up and only buy for the kids this year. There are 12 kids to buy for. Yes, I said 12 and 6 of those kids are his. Ain’t nobody got money for no more presents!
5. Viva La #ElfFreeHome Revolution! There still ain’t no elf on my shelf!
6. I have hosted Christmas every year for the past 5 years. I have never received a hostess gift. (Starbucks and Taco Bell gift cards are welcomed. I’m just sayin’)
7. I still have not heard a Christmas song this year. I just realized this.
You’re Welcome.
8. I seriously think it is adorable that my son is missing his two front teeth before Christmas. I do not think watching him eat with said missing teeth is adorable.
9. Christmas Day is the only day of the year where I wake up at the butt-crack of dawn and seriously think about waking up my kids. I may be more excited on Christmas morning than they are.
10. I think I finally understand why there was always Bailey’s and Peppermint Schnapps in the cupboard on Christmas. Mommy needs her “special” coffee.
Wishing you and yours Happy Holidays!

Your 3 year old’s response to how many days there is left until Christmas is PERFECTION! That’s crazy you’ve never gotten a a hostess gift. We always give little gift cards or homemade treats. Here’s hoping that this year you’ll be one <3
Isn’t it though?! It was so blunt and honest! See, if you bring homemade treats or a card, I consider that a hostess gift!
Your three year old is adorable! I love the chipmunks. I have to show that video to my daughter.
She is pretty cute! The Chipmunks Christmas song is my favorite!
Your little ones sound adorable! Your son really is creative saying that Santa needs to think outside the box because a computer won’t fit in his stocking! 🙂
He is very smart and creative! Always trying to engineer ways to get what he needs.
I’m loving these random thoughts! Christmas is my favorite time of year! I love everything about the gorgeous lights, the sparkles and the decorations. We have started several family traditions that I hope are carried on with the grandchildren!
It is truly one of my favorite times too! There is just so much magic in the air!
OMG — great thoughts! I have had some of the same things running around my head the last couple weeks.
Some of them seem to come and go with the holidays!
Your family sounds like so much fun! I am really interested in this toy that poops out charms now LOL!!!! I read a great article from a mommy blogger who said “yes” to her kids for a day. That is an awesome idea, but my kids would want a kitten surfing on a slice of pizza into outer space… seriously. LOL!!! Happy ALL of the Holidays! ^_^
If I said yes to my kids for a day, the world would never forgive me!
Your brother sounds a lot like Kevin’s side of the family, where my kids are 2 out of 9 grandkids. We thought it was time to change things up as that is a lot of kids to by for who aren’t ours too and plus it is getting to the point where no one puts much thought into the gifts, because of the sheer amount of kids to by for, but when this was brought up of course no one saw it the same way. Got to love the holidays and families!
Exactly! You know where I am coming from!
My son wants a laptop, too, but until he has a justifiable amount of homework that would require him getting his own – he’s not.
Right?! My son only wants one for Minecraft, LOL!
LOL I laugh at #8, reminds me of my son who is missing his front teeth too. I think it’s super cute any time of the year but yeah gross watching him eat!
It’s super cute and totally cliche, but I love it!
Livvy and I watched the chipmunk video! Memories! You crack me up! I get way too excited too, probably more than the kids. I love seeing their faces on Christmas morning.
You should totally get a hostess gift!!
I get so super excited! It is hard for me to wait!
I’ve never been in the habit of giving hostess gifts. As long as I show up with some food contribution, is that ok/enough?
See, I consider food or beverage contribution a hostess gift, so you are good!
Haha! I love the 3 year old response! And that “special” coffee sounds delicious!
MY mom calls it an “Irish Peppermint Patty”!
This is too funny! I have not seen that doll on the shelves yet. How do they think of these toys? Your kids have great comments.
I have no idea how these toys make it on the shelves, LOL!
Does food count as a hostess gift? Money is tight, but I always try to bake a treat, or make my bacon artichoke dip, or even a small crafty homemade thing that says “I thought of you.” It’s just the right thing to do. Or offer to stay after and clean up. SOMETHING. Geez.
Tell ya what, you come host my Christmas and I will share my chocolates with you :p
Ok, I am totally drooling! Yes, food definitely counts as a hostess gift!
Hahaha the 3 year old’s response is epic, too cute i tell ya and your son without 2 front teeth hahaha reminds me of my childhood lol so many pictures that I need to burn
Hahahaha, the two front teeth pictures are soooo cute though!
So there with you about the elf on the shelf. VIVA LA #ELFFREEHOME SISTER! First thing I thought when I heard that was no way am I making a mess just to clean it up.
Yes! Say No to the Elf, LOL!
Ha! The Chipmunks! Oh my goodness!
That pooping charms doll – what’s with that?! It took me almost the first three years of my youngest daughter’s life to NOT get her to play with her poop. There’s no way I would EVER get that doll!
Your son and my oldest daughter would be a good match this Christmas with them both missing their two front teeth. Awesome.
Thanks for sharing and for linking up to the #SHINEbloghop!
Wishing you a lovely weekend.
xoxo
I can imagine how cute a picture of the two of them would be!
Seriously! This pooping doll! I just don’t get it!
Kids toys seems to get weirder every year! You should just get her the doll, so you can tease her through her teenage years about it.
Hahahaha, Black mail! I like that idea!
IT is my new years resolution to break you of your Taco Hell addiction. I am very thankful you linked to the old school version of the Chipmunk song…and wth? No hostess gifts?!
Hahaha, good luck with that! I love my Taco Bell! Isn’t the Chipmunk song the best?! Seriously, I love doing it, but a little gratitude goes a long way!
omg i loved reading these random thoughts and your little girl sounds like she’s so silly and adorable. Aww and if I knew you personally I would send you a big thank you gift for hosting Christmas every year ♥ Happy Holidays
I’m glad you enjoyed them! Thank you so much for your appreciative thought! That really made me smile!
Loved all of these! Kids say the cutest things sometimes! And someone needs to hook you up with a hostess gift.
Kids can be so funny and adorable! Even a special thank you would be nice!
Your son is so smart. I like the idea that Santa should think outside of the socks. Kids can really be creative in getting what they want.
He is very creative and smart. Smarter than me sometimes, which is scary!
haha! I sang the Chipmunks song at a photo shoot the other day to get the kids to smile. It worked!
My sister said the same thing about only getting the kids presents. We have 9 of us total – adult “kids” and spouses. Then there are my parents. And four grandkids. I think the math is wrong. Only four real kids. 13 adults! I still want presents! Wah!
Hahahaha, quite the predicament, Tamara!
As long as they bring wine… I don’t care about a hostess gift … Just sayin’ But if they don’t bring wine or a dish, I’d be disappointed too.
It’s not so much the gift, as they do nothing. 🙁
I love the holidays. trying to find the perfect present for everyone can be very stressful.
Super stressful! Especially when you have picky kids!
A charm pooping doll? No way!!
RIGHT?! Insanity!
Baby Boy only haw 3 immediate cousins, but we wanted to do only something for the kids. I have 3 siblings, plus parents and a grandmother. Hun only counts his mother and grandmother. That’s quite a lot of gifts.
I think at least 1 sister is getting Hun and I something. Our budget is tipi right right now, so I’m thinking of a food mix for people, hot cocoa anyone. Just quick and simple, plus not too costly. Then likely pictures for the grandparents.
My pressure to keep up with my sister I’ll eliminate by staying true to what works for me. 🙂
My mom loved to make homemade cocoa mix and give it out as gifts! So lovely!
Lol Echo, love it! Thank you for the chuckles, needed this right now 😉
I too have a #ELFFreeHome…
So glad! I love putting a smile on your face Jane! Viva La #ElfFreeHome Revolution!
#2, yes. OMG . . . my kids saw this and were like oh that’s so cool! It’s poop charms. WTH? How does one even come up with that idea, let alone get it to production? I’m baffled.
I really have no idea who would let that go through!
Wow, a bracelet made of doll poop?? Where do these toy creators come from??
Maybe you can suggest that the kids exchange names for Christmas. That’s what we do and then you’d only have two gifts to buy!
Right?! Let’s teach our kids to play with poop!
I love that your son said Santa needs to think outside of the stocking, and your 3 year old is brilliant there is still way too many days until Christmas if your a child. However as a parent there can never be enough days till Christmas!
Never enough, LOL, but they definitely are creative and ready!
I think I need a link for that doll because that’s too ridiculous to believe! My daughter is finally old enough to be know what Christmas is and I think I might be right there with you at the butt crack waiting for her to get up so I can soak it all in. (Stopping by from SITS Girls Sharefest)
It’s real. I’m serious! http://www.toysrus.com/buy/specialty-dolls/lalaloopsy-babies-diaper-surprise-asst-529545-32714736
Product Highlights
Magically poops charms when your youngster feeds the doll water and presses its belly button
I’d give you a hostess gift! It would probably be filled with chocolate.
You know I would love that! A lot!
Seriously 6 kids????? He needs a TV in the bedroom!!!!!!!!!!! Just saying….. No one has brought you hostess gift??? NOT COOL, people, not cool!!!!!! Here’s hoping someone reads this and does the right thing when coming to celebrate Christmas this year!!! Oh your daughter ROCKS!!!! Although I need those days to shop, so yeah…. to long!
Right?! He needs a hobby, LOL. All I really want is a nice thank you! She seriously is AMAZING and catches on so quick!
Echo you are a woman after my heart lol. I love this list and everything on it. Your life sounds like mine, with the exception that we finally talked all of the adults in our lives into doing Secret Santa this year with a $200 gift max and we even got to request said gift (mostly gc). I hope that someone decides to read your list and stock your stuffing with said Taco Bell GC <3 Loved this post so much I clicked on your TOP MOMMY BLOG BANNER!!
Yay! I love connecting with new people that get me! I would love to do a secret Santa, but my siblings don’t want to. Ugh. Oh man! A sticking full of Taco Bell GCs would be heavenly! Thank you for reading, posting and clicking!!!
“Think outside the stocking” Hilarious!
That doll that poops jewels creeps me out. I don’t now why anyone thought that was a good idea.
Right?! He’s a funny boy! That pooping doll makes no sense! Why would that be ok?!
