I know that a lot of you are on Spring break or your spring break has just ended, but we had our spring break super early! I shared how we surprised the kids with their first flight and took them to Fort Myers Beach for the weekend! We stayed at a beautiful hotel, we got to go shelling and so much more! We also checked out Manatee Park and the Port Sanibel Marina, which are both free to visit!
Manatee Park is a non-captive, warm water refuge for manatees. It’s free to visit and only costs a couple of bucks for parking.
It’s a pretty neat place! It reminds me of a Nature Center. There are paths to walk, a couple of spots with informational signs, a couple of docks to walk out on and a lot of beautiful Floridian plants. It also has a playground and recreation rentals, so it would be a great place to spend the day and have a picnic! Of course, we didn’t get to see many manatees. In fact, we only managed to see two manatee noses come out of the water, but it was still a great visit! We were also a little late. Manatee season is from late December, January and February when the gulf temperature is below 68F.
My son, who happens to love botany and trees especially, was in awe of the Mangroves and Giant Palms!
My daughter, who is very adventurous, got herself in a GATOR sized situation!
We kid, we kid. It was fake and we didn’t see any real gators while we were in Florida either.
Port Sanibel Marina
Port Sanibel is an Old Florida style marina, with a lot of upgrades. They offer boat storage, a mile long nature boardwalk, a restaurant, a cute little shop and more.
There were a lot of beautiful flowers and birds at the Marina. It really was a great place to walk around, relax and take in that beautiful Floridian weather!
They also had these adorable trolleys and they do offer tours! I think that is on our to-do list for our next visit!
The Port Sanibel Marina was the perfect place to relax at and to explore, while we waited to sail off into the sunset!
