Everyone is familiar with that packet of taco seasoning. Where it comes in the taco kit that you bought or you grabbed one at the store because it was only $.42. Well, those packets have a bunch of stuff in them that you really don’t need in your tacos. I have been making my own Homemade Taco Seasoning for a while and even my picky eater can’t tell the difference!
I make my taco seasoning as I need it, but you can also bulk up the recipe and put it in a spice container. Stored properly, it can last for quite a while. If you do make a bulk recipe to store, make sure you shake the jar before using it. That way your spices are even distributed.
Here is how I make mine:
1 TBS of chili powder, 1/2 TBS of paprika, 1 TSP of cumin, 1 TSP of garlic powder, 1/2 TSP of black pepper and 1/2 TSP of salt. Then you add 1 TBS of cornstarch and combine it.
I use this seasoning in many different recipes, including my Taco Pizza, my Beef and Bean Enchiritos and of course, TACOS!
