On my trip to California’s Orange County, I stayed at the Best Western Plus Orange County North in Santa Ana. I booked this hotel room via Expedia based on the cost, pictures, reviews and promises of a free hot breakfast.
The hotel was quite easy to find and very centrally located in Santa Ana, right off of the highway, which was nice. We arrived a couple of hours early and were hoping that we could get an early check in, but the front desk staff told us that we could not. They did, however, provide us with a map of the area and assured us that our room would be ready for check in at 3pm.
We returned to the hotel at 4pm and were a little concerned when the hotel staff said our room was not marked as clean, so they had to check on it. Luckily, it was clean and we were able to check in. Parking was very ample and we never had a problem getting a spot. Our room was in a great location, on the second floor, right off of the elevator, overlooking the pool.
The room was clean and had all of the amenities that were promised. It was a little darker than I was expecting. I thought it would feel more warm and homey from the pictures I saw online.
The beds were clean and soft. They also provided us with plenty of pillows, which is a must for me. I like to sleep with a mountain of pillows. I usually have to call and request more, but here, I didn’t have to.
Pretty standard bathroom. It was clean. Although, I am still waiting to walk into a hotel bathroom and have one of those hallelujah moments. The water pressure and temperature was decent for two people.
I enjoyed that we had a mini fridge in our room because we carried water with us to the beach and on our drive down the PCH, so the mini fridge really came in handy. We also had a coffee maker and a microwave.
One of the best parts about our stay at the Best Western Plus Orange County North was the complimentary, made to order hot breakfast every morning! I absolutely loved that I could get fresh eggs made just for me, it was great and the ladies that run the breakfast and kitchen are amazing!
It was also very quiet and relaxing by the pool the first couple of days. I was very impressed by the fact that they had wheelchair lifts at their pool, as well as having 6 handicap accessible rooms.
Hotel Picking Tips:
- Location: Is it close to or easy to get to where you want to be?
- Price: Is it a good deal? Are you getting good amenities for the price? WiFi, parking, breakfast…
- Reviews: Always check real reviews. That way, you know what you are getting with your stay.
All in all, it was a good place to stay. If I was visiting Orange County again, I wouldn’t hesitate staying here again if the price was right.
