I saw an article pop up in my Facebook feed recently and it was talking about the fact that Instagram accounts are faked and you should never set your own standards by what you see on there. Now, this got the gears in my brain turning and I realized that people surf the internet all day for entertainment, inspiration, motivation, shits & giggles and more, but do they really try to live up to what they see on the internet and if they do, do they know that they don’t have to be anyone but themselves?
With me, what you see is what you get.
I don’t sugar coat, I don’t lie (well, to anyone other than my kids.), I don’t pose my life.
My life happens and so does my blog.
They kind of follow suit with one another and I am not going to “pretty one up” for the sake of ratings or readers on the internet. I’m sorry, but I just don’t roll like that.
It’s real. Full of pictures of my coffee, my messy and rambunctious kids, my stained carpet, my food etc. They are moments in time that I have either opted to share or have been prompted to share, but they are real none the less.
It’s the stuff that I want to share. Stuff that I would like you to see or stuff that I think you would like to see. If you don’t like it, don’t look at it. It’s ok. You won’t offend me, stranger on the internet…
A hodge podge of my life. Cooking, blogging, teaching, learning, bitching, complaining, loving and boasting. It’s real. I don’t hide things or dress them up. My life and the chaos that it thrives upon are the inspiration for this blog, so why should I make it anything but that?
So, I can’t promise you that the internet is real because I would only be making an ass out of myself. However, I can promise you that I am real and what I put out there for the internet to suck up, is real too. My kids can be assholes and I am no better than them, my house is a mess for about 16 hours a day, this post may or may not have been written with cheese dust stained fingers (it totally was) and I may or may not have dribbled coffee onto my chest (I totally did).
Yes, I homeschool. No, I don’t blog about it all the time. Why? Because it’s my blog and I write what I want.
Yes, My son has autism. No, I don’t blog about it all the time. Why? Because we try not to let it run our lives.
Yes, I am addicted to coffee. Yes, I blog about it quite a bit. Why? Because it is delicious and hello, I’m addicted to it.
Yes, I get involved in posts with other bloggers. Yes, I know it happens at least once a week. Why? Because blogging wouldn’t happen without other bloggers and I wouldn’t be here without the connections that I have made with other bloggers.
Yes, I review stuff. Yes, I post about it. Why? Because I liked the stuff, wanted to share it with you and may or may not have gotten paid to do so.
Yes, I swear. Yes, some of my posts (like this one) contain swear words. Why? Because, no matter how hard I try, some of them just slip through the cracks and/or there is not a better way for me to share my emotions at that moment.
I don’t know if I can say it any better than this:
What you see is what you get!
With me at least.
I hope that you continue to visit my reality as I share it with you.
*A Friendly Disclaimer: I have nothing against anyone that actually has it all together. I am merely stating that I do not and you won’t find any of that here.
