Hi, my name is Kristin Cummings and I am one of those people who has a ‘Before and After’ picture. I’m guessing your first assumption would be weight loss and you’re right. This blurb is about my weight loss journey. The ‘goodbye size 14 and hello size 4’ story.
I became a mom at the young age of 18. I loved being a mother, but I didn’t love what it did to my body. Since being 18 and having a higher metabolism played in my favor, I was able to lose most of the weight I had gained with the pregnancy. Four years later I had another child, and then another and another. Four children later and years of being over weight and not taking care of my nutritional needs, I did a number on my body. My health suffered, I was depressed, I lacked motivation and self-esteem. I was a young mom, but I didn’t feel young.
After a family photo shoot in the summer of 2010, and really seeing myself from that angle, I decided enough was enough. I wanted to, I NEEDED to do something about my health, my weight, my life.
In late 2010 I was introduced to Herbalife. I became a daily customer in a Nutrition Club that was conveniently located near my home. It didn’t take long before I asked how to make the amazing shakes at home. I really felt committed at this point. I loved the energy I felt and how much better I was already feeling, and with that, gaining this newly founded motivation. I started getting into the gym at least 5 times a week. I was determined to look and feel good again. It didn’t take long. I was surprised at how fast things were changing for me. I stuck to my nutrition plan and continued to get that fitness in and it wasn’t long before I not only had to buy ALL new clothes, but I even had to purchase new underwear because what I had no longer fit. What an amazing feeling. I was a new person. I hadn’t felt this good about myself in so long. I deserved it. I did the work and with my efforts it paid off. I reached my goals. For New Years 2012 I was able to wear a sexy dress for the first time in my adult life. What a feeling! Since then I have been able to maintain my weight and have adjusted my lifestyle for some new personal goals. I’m currently working on gaining muscle mass and bulking up a bit. Something I never thought I’d be interested in doing.
My Why’s…? My Motivation…? My children. I see how they watch us, I can see those minds working and their sponge like personalities picking up everything they hear and see. I not only want to be a healthy mom, but I want to set a healthy example. I love that my children are all active and into living a healthy lifestyle. It makes me so much more thankful for my 28-year-old self making that commitment to be the best version I CAN BE.
