As a wife, mother and sister, I know how important hygiene can be and I also know that male hygiene can be overlooked. As the mom of a 10-year-old boy who has to be forced into the shower, I think it is important to teach and impose good personal hygiene on our boys from the get go!
Good personal hygiene starts as simply as washing hands, making sure their clothes are clean and brushing their teeth. As they get older, it expands into more personal care products.
Teach your sons about the importance of showering and washing their hair. Especially as they get older and start to develop that “Manly Stench“, as we call it. My son like to have his OWN shampoo and bodywash. Something that is specifically for him.
Oral hygiene is equally as important! Proper dental care, brushing, flossing and mouth-rinsing, not only kills bacteria and keeps bad breath away, but it also saves their teeth and holds off other dental related health problems.
Getting our boys into the habit of washing their hands after going to the bathroom is just as important as it is with the girls. You wouldn’t believe how many boys say they don’t have to wash because they just went pee. They were still in a bathroom, they still came in contact with a toilet, they still need to was their hands.
Grooming is something that can make a man feel better about himself. Just like women can sometimes enjoy doing their hair and making themselves up, a man can do the same. Get your son his own awesome, edgy haircare products, show him a little inspiration and see where he goes from there!
Teaching our boys about personal hygiene doesn’t have to be difficult. It just has to be done. Set an example, give him some inspiration and maybe, some personal care products of his own like the new GRIT line of products from Great Clips!
Oh, and by the way, there is a pretty sweet giveaway being hosted by Great Clips on Instagram!
