Brandi asked and I answered!
It’s fourth of July, a lot of people grill out. Will you be grilling and what’s on your menu?
We will be having burgers, brats, fresh fruit, fresh veggies and a dessert!
How do you typically celebrate fourth of July weekend? Fireworks? Cookout? Get togethers with family and friends?
We celebrate the 4th on the 3rd every year. For some reason our city does the fireworks show on the 3rd, so we just go with it. We always have our friends and their kids over, we BBQ and then, we do a few small fireworks in our backyard.
Are fireworks a problem for your dogs? If so how do you comfort them?
For one of our dogs, yes, fireworks are a problem. She has a hard time with them and we tried everything to help. For the past 3 years, she has taken an anxiety medicine, prescribed by her vet, and that has helped immensely!
I try not to heat this house up with extra cooking during the summer. What’s your go-to item for potlucks/cookouts during the summer?
We eat a LOT of sandwiches in the summer! They are cool, easy to make and require no cooking!
Are you more of an “Olaf” who loves hot summers or an “Elsa” who the cold never bothers?
I would say that I am more Anna, who would prefer a tropical island with white sand beaches and a year round temperature of 60-80 degrees!
You gotta help a mom out. Our AC is not working well and I live in FL. So what’s your favorite way to stay cool on HOT summer days?
I love to do ice sensory play! I will freeze big bowls of water with random little toys in them and then, put them in the little plastic pool for my kids. I’ll give them little tools, so they can rescue the toys from the ice.
If money wasn’t an obstacle, describe your perfect summer day with your family.
If money was no obstacle? I’d probably start with a farm-fresh breakfast at a berry farm, followed by some berry picking. After that, a nice picnic lunch, under an awesome shade tree and maybe a short nap. Then, we would be off to the water-park for a few hours of wet and wild fun! Dinner would be at some awesome restaurant, because on a perfect summer day, I don’t cook. After dinner, as it started to cool down, I would love to roast marshmallows and make s’mores around the fire-pit.
Do you have a favorite summer memory from childhood? Describe it for us.
Probably the year that I went white water rafting in the Colorado River. That was pretty epic! I will never forget it!
What’s your all time favorite summer movie?
Grease, baby! I love watching Grease in the summer!
What’s the one activity you look forward to doing each summer with your kids?
Swimming! We are a family of water-loving fish!
