Raising kids takes a lot of time and if one happens to be a stay at home mom, or dad, it can definitely take a toll on the sanity. Believe me, I have been lucky enough,
lucky enough, to be a stay at home parent for almost 10 years and I am almost a complete lunatic!
With that being said, this school year will be the first year where both of my kids are in full-time school. That means that they will leave every morning and be gone for about 6 hours, 5 days a week. You know what that means? YES, for the first time in my parental life, I will have hours to MYSELF!!!! Oh, GLORIOUS ME-TIME! What to do, what to do?!
Here are 5 things I think all stay at home moms should do once their kids are in school. Oh, and stay at home dads too!
Go back to bed:
Seriously. Put those kids on the bus, drop them off in the pick up line or whatever and then, crawl back into bed. You deserve it! Just don’t forget to set an alarm!
Call your friend and talk on the phone without interruption:
Have a long-winded conversation about whatever the hell you want, provided their kids aren’t home and hey, make plans to get together. You’ve got 6 hours a day to kill, 5 days a week now!
Go out to eat without your kids:
Go to an adult restaurant, at a non-peak time and have a leisurely adult meal that doesn’t include anything off of the kid’s menu! Afterwards, get some coffee or a pedicure!
Watch inappropriate TV and movies:
Make some popcorn and watch those DVR’d shows or Netflix series that you have been wanting to watch, but can’t because they are too inappropriate for the kids. Well guess what, the kids ain’t home no more!
It’s a whole new world when you go shopping, do errands or do your daily chores without kids on your hip. Seriously, you will get so much done that you will feel like a whole new person!
You’ve done a great job and now, they are in school. Give yourself a pat on the back and a well deserved break for a few hours a day, 5 days a week.
