Some of you may know and some of you may not know, that I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2017 and let me tell you, it has been a hard adjustment. Hell, I am still adjusting. If you don’t know what Fibromyalgia is, I don’t blame you, a lot of people don’t. From what I have learned, Fibromyalgia is a chronic illness that causes widespread pain, along with a plethora of other symptoms, throughout your whole body. They aren’t quite sure what causes it, but it may have ti do with the nervous system in my body misfiring and making my nerves over sensitive to everything. It is also considered an autoimmune disorder in the same family as Rheumatoid Arthritis.
It’s a beast and last year, I pretty much let it lock me up in a cage and throw away the key. However, with A LOT of doctor’s visits, A LOT of medication and A LOT of therapy, I am finally learning how to live with my baseline pain. Does it suck being in pain all the time? Hell yeah, it does, but I still have kids to raise, a husband to love and a house to try to keep clean, so I have to make it through somehow. That is why I decided to write this post, You Might Have Fibromyalgia If. Some of it may be humorous and some of it may be serious, but all of it is true!
Here we go, You might have Fibromyalgia if…
Waking up and walking to the couch requires you to need a nap.
If you stay in your PJs all day, not just because they are comfy, but because you just don’t have the energy to change out of them.
You consider joining the ranks of bra-less women in the world, because if you thought they hurt before, man, they feel like demon straps from HELL now!
When someone asks you how you are, you always answer with, “I’m fine. Just tired.”.
You live under a heating blanket and use ice packs at the same time.
You, your pharmacist, your doctor and your family members are all on a first name basis.
You know more about your diagnosis and available treatments for it than most of the doctors you meet.
You can tell what time it is by your pain level and when your next medication dose is.
When unloading and loading the dishwasher is an 8 step process. Unload bottom rack, rest, unload top rack, rest, load top rack, rest, load bottom rack and start machine, rest.
When Netflix and Chill actually means Netflix and Chill and it is also a great coping strategy!
Your Amazon wishlist is full of pain relieving and comforting items.
You are really great at journaling your symptoms and what you want to talk to the doctor about, but not so great at remembering to write down the actual appointment date. *Fibro Fog*
You are fighting, living, loving and still laughing!
Fibromyalgia is a beast of a Chronic Illness and the pain can be unimaginable. Picture waking up with the flu, every single day, and then sometimes, you also get hit by a mack truck. Yeah, that is Fibromyalgia, but Fibromyalgia is also so much more than the pain. It messes with my depression and anxiety. It messes with my tummy, my bowels, my blood flow, my immune system and so much more.
Just remember, that I am doing a dance with an ugly beast, but I am still trying to be present and live!
Do you know anyone with Fibromyalgia?

Oh Echo, I cannot even begin to imagine. But I can’t thank you enough for always being so honest here about this and more. Plus being so forthcoming in education others, as well. Hugs and thank you always for just being you, my friend <3
Wow. That is a lot, I can’t even imagine having to deal with something like that every day. Tipping my hat to you and your strength.
I actually have three friends with it, including you. So I really feel like I know the severity! My friend who we traveled with to Disney has it and it was really hard for her to enjoy the theme parks. My other friend feels great when she’s pregnant, and then the pain comes back. So sad. I hope you all find relief. xoxo
