So, it begins.
Winter break is upon us.
The children are home, without structure, without friends and without any respite for us, the parents. This means that we have to provide them with structure, entertainment, love and as much patience as we can muster (which for me, isn’t much).
Here are a few ideas that might help you keep some of your sanity during winter break.
Keep your Netflix arsenal locked and loaded. If things get too crazy, throw on a seasonal flick! Some of my favorites include The Santa Clause, Elf, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Frosty The Snowman, The Grinch and Home Alone.
Kids love coloring and it’s ok, you can admit it, you love coloring too! I know I do! It’s totally relaxing and it’s something that you can do with your kids. Try printing out some coloring sheets, like these, and maybe get yourself a coloring book like this.
Do you want to build a snowman or catch some Pokemon down the block? Seriously, if the weather is nice enough, play outside. Snowball fights, snowmen, walks, Pokemon Go, bike rides, swimming (if you live in FLORIDA!!!), check out Christmas lights or if the weather sucks, make your own snow!
Drink a lot of coffee:
Seriously, drink a ton of coffee! Caffeine is your friend. Do not be afraid of it during Christmas break. Give your kids some hot chocolate too!
Remember, a couple of weeks can seem long, but you’ll make it through. Remember to take breaks when you can, accept help when it is offered, dinner from a box or can is completely acceptable and screen-time doesn’t count during school breaks. *wink wink*
How will you keep some of your sanity during winter break?
