I am so excited to start this new blog series and to share it with all of you!
#KidsInTheKitchen is all about having fun, coming up with recipes and teaching your kids valuable life skills while getting them involved in the process!
This week, we are answer a very common question, “What’s for breakfast?”!
So, what’s for breakfast?
Cereal, a bagel, toast?
All good things, all good things!
How about an Egg white, Sausage and Cheese Quesadilla with Fruit ‘n’ Yogurt?
Sounds delicious right?
- 2 Fajita sized tortillas
- 3 large egg whites
- Shredded cheese (about 1/4 of a cup)
- 1/2 cup of cooked sausage
- 1 Tbs of parsley
- Salt, Pepper and Butter
- Assorted Fruit (We used 2 bananas and 1 cup of grapes)
- 1/2 cup of yogurt
- 2 Willing and Eager participants (this is optional and numbers can vary!)
Step 1: Teach your child how to crack eggs and separate the whites from the yolks! (We used the shell to shell method)
Step 2: Teach your child how to cut fruit! (We have a child safe knife, but plastic butter knives work well and are safe for teaching)
Step 4: Add sausage to the egg whites.
Step 5: Flip the eggs! (If your kids are old enough, let them try to and then watch the pure joy on their face when they accomplish it!)
Step 7: Cut and Serve.
Step 9: Watch how proud your kids are of their meal!
Step 10: ENJOY!
