A house isn’t really a home until you put your own touches on it. Whether you want to finish the basement, turn the office into the baby’s new room or remodel the kitchen, there are many ways that families can make their home a place to be proud of!
Change the Paint on the Walls
Putting up a new coat of paint can be one of the easiest ways to change the look and feel of a house. Changing a red or yellow room to a blue or green room can transform an angry space into one where you feel calm and relaxed. Using a latex finish instead of a glossy one may also make it easier to clean your walls if you have children or pets that like to rub up against them.
Change the Old Shag Carpet for New Hardwood Floors
Hardwood floors will always look good in a home no matter when you want to sell it. Whether you are looking to leave in a few months or a few decades from now, you will make the home more attractive and easier to sell for top dollar. However, hardwood is generally best for those who don’t have a lot of traffic going through their homes on a regular basis as it may be easier to scuff or scratch.
Put New Tile in the Kitchen
Putting down a new tile floor or adding a tile back splash can make it possible to put your own stamp on the space without spending a lot of money. Tile can be purchased new from a home improvement store or purchased used from an outlet location to better meet your budget.
Upgrade the Bathroom with a New Tub or Toilet
You don’t need to do much to upgrade a bathroom on a budget. Simple steps such as adding a new toilet or a new tub can improve the look and function of the space without breaking the bank. Heated floors or a new vanity are also good ways to improve a bathroom and increase the value of your home when it comes time to sell it.
Ideally, you want your home to be a place that you can show off to friends and family members. Whether you choose to refresh the kitchen or change the paint, you can make your house a place where everyone feels comfortable and welcome with minimal effort and impact on your bank account.
