Here is a glimpse at how we get ready to go back to school.
One thing that is different this year is that my son will be attending public school.
He will be going to receive certain Special Education benefits, like Adaptive Phys Ed and social skills classes.
Homeschooling started out of necessity, but I rather enjoy it. My son has made great academic strides with homeschooling and I hope that he will continue to do so. I will also start pre-school with my daughter this year! Fun fun! Pre-K and 3rd Grade!
How do I prepare?
I spend all summer on Pinterest. Ok, not the whole summer, but a lot of it.
I collect a lot ideas in order to build lessons for my kids. My son, having Autism, thrives on curriculum that is tailored to his interests. Therefore, I collect projects and ideas that I can manipulate to do so. I also allow my children to learn a lot from experience. We go out and about, we cook together, we do household chores. I think that life skills are often times, wrongly misplaced on the back burner during the school years.
I set up our homeschool room, so it is all ready when we get back to school.
Did you know that you can sell gift cards that you won’t use online and then, buy gift cards that you can use?
There is a great site called raise.com. So, if you are anything like me and got anything other than a Target gift card, visit raise.com and get some use out of it!
Our public school starts the day after Labor Day and that is when we will start too!
Good Luck with all of your back to school preparations and good luck to everyone on the first day of school!
