Yes, terrifying. I know.
We done now?
All right, moving on….
We love science!
Here is a simple science experiment that you can do at home, anytime.
The Naked Egg Experiment!
This experiment is a lot of fun and requires very little.
Usually, people already have these things on hand.
What you need:
1 egg (chicken preferably, however, you can get fancy if you want to)
1 container with lid that will hold the a fore mentioned egg
1 1/2 cups (give or take) of white (distilled) vinegar
What you do:
Place the egg, in it’s entirety, into the container.
Cover the egg with the vinegar.
Seal the lid.
What will happen:
After 24 hours, you will notice that the egg is engulfed in bubbles.
After 48 hours, the bubbles have dissipated and the shell has disappeared completely.
You can now hold and handle the egg. You can see inside of it.
It is a neat experiment.
Also, the egg bounces but the structural integrity is not very strong.
We got one bounce out of it before my son threw it on the table like a bouncy ball and it splattered all over!
On the bright side, the vinegar preserves the egg, so it didn’t stink.
Imagination Station is great resource on the experiment and more that you can do with your egg.
The above website has a lot of great science experiments that you can do at home!
I also recommend picking up this book:
You can find it here!
We got a copy for my son’s birthday and it is a lot of fun!
