At times, I feel a bit like Morpheus in the Matrix.
My child is gifted when it comes to numbers. He figures out equations quite fast.
My child does not have a firm grasp on reality.
Here is an example of the type of mind that I have to compete with:
This conversation took place during the Opening Ceremony of the Sochi Olympic Games.
My boy: “I wish I had the technology to control all those tiny people like that.”
Me: “Those are actual people.”
The boy: “Really? How do they all move together like that?”
Me: “Umm, practice.” *head in hands*
In his mind, number and facts are king.
Reality, that is just a third class citizen that he doesn’t have time for.
Much like common sense.
Common sense gets ignored as well.
Teaching a child on the spectrum is a constant battle.
This is me:
and this is my son’s mind:
At times, I feel like I really break through and he gets it!
Then he is like, “No.”
And it leaves me saying, “Maybe I am not the one.”
Then we do it all over again!
Do you ever feel like you are stuck in a loop with your children?
