We had been debating, for a long time, whether or not Karate would be good for our son.
We had heard from different sources that Karate can be very good for children with ADD, ADHD and Autism.
It makes sense. Karate is all about respect, responsibility, focus and discipline. All parents seek these four things for their children, especially those with Attention disorders or Spectrum disorders.
We had fears. We feared that he would take it to extremes. We feared that he would karate chop things or possibly, roundhouse kick his little sister in the face.
You know, normal parental fears.
We finally took the plunge and signed him up, despite our perfectly rational fears.
I have to say…..
I am beyond impressed!
The teachers are so wonderful with him and he is already learning! Soaking it all in! He LOVES it!
Look at that focus and determination!
They also work on so many gross motor skills! Today, my son did a 15 second plank. I was so proud of him! He worked hard, listened and showed respect.
Today, he earned his first belt!
He was so proud of himself!
Boy, were we proud of him!
He is growing up so fast!
We also, expressed ourselves artistically today.
I asked him what we should draw.
“Ninjas and Mario, mom!”
My boy’s ninjas!
My attempt at a Mario picture!
Enjoy your day, your family, your children and your friends!
